Thrive is committed to training youth & children’s leaders

Since Thrive started in 2011, investing in leaders has been at the heart of what we do. As we enter 2018 we are excited by the programme of training that we are able to offer to leaders over the year ahead.

We have training for all those who serve the children and young people in our church. We have specific training for employed leaders as well as for volunteers, and we are expanding our training for young leaders as well.

Training events are fantastic as they provide the opportunity for leaders to learn new ideas and to think through specific areas of ministry as well as providing the chance to engage with others in similar roles in other churches. This provides inspiration, fresh ideas and also a shared responsibility of the burden of investing in the emerging generations.

Thrive has been developing Children’s work hubs over the last year. These are events that happen once a term and bring together all those who help with children’s ministry and focus on a specific topic. These continue in 2018 with events happening on 15th March, 18th June and 15th November.

in 2018, we are launching a YouthWork Hub for similar reasons. We are going to be holding these on Saturday mornings over breakfast. We are launching our first hub on 24th March, 19th May and 24th November.

In addition to these regular meetings we have created a programme of one-off training events to focus on specific themes. In 2018 these will be:

Monday 29th January Puppet Training

A practical event to learn how to use puppets to connect with children and to use them visually for outreach events. Book tickets here.

Wednesday 25th April Mentoring Young People

Mentoring has become a bit of a buzz word in youth work over recent years. This evening event will explore what we mean by mentoring, how it can be a useful tool in discipling young people and how you can go about setting up a mentoring scheme in your church with your teenagers.

Saturday 28th April  Connecting with children & families in the Community

A chance to explore how we reach out, what activities are especially effective, a Biblical understanding of outreach and following a process which enables us to meet the needs of the children (and their families) in our communities and to share the Good News of Jesus with them.

Wednesday 20th June  Young People & Social Media

This is an event for youth leaders, church leaders, parents, grand parents, in fact anyone who is concerned about the impact of social media on young people. We will explore how social media is developing, how young people are using it and how we can help them to be safe online.

Saturday 6th October Transform Conference

Following the success of last year’s Transform Conference, we are holding another day conference for anyone who is involved with youth & children’s ministries in the local church. The day aims to inspire, encourage and equip the church to be better able to reach out and disciple children & young people.

Youth Growing Leaders Courses

Finally, we are currently exploring running two youth growing leaders starting in the autumn. We intend to run another course based in Leamington Spa, and we are currently working on launching a brand new programme in Coventry. Watch this space!

Tickets for all events will be available via Thrive’s website in the near future.
