Tim Crummack joined us at the end of March as our new Youth Events & Courses Lead. We are delighted to have Tim on our team. He comes with so much experience and wisdom about youth ministry, and we can’t wait to see how our events and courses will develop under his leadership. We thought you might like to get to know him so we asked him a few questions.
What is your role and what made you join Thrive?
As the Youth Events & Courses Lead, I will collaborate with the Thrive team to organise events and courses that support local churches in Warwickshire and beyond with their youth work, including Basecamp, Base and Youth Growing Leaders. Additionally, I’ll support the youth leader network and explore new uses for the Youth Bus in schools.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am excited to be part of what God is doing, and will continue to do, through this rising generation. The signs are very encouraging. So I’m most looking forward to hearing, and maybe even being part of, stories of God impacting young people’s lives and transforming them.
What were you up to before joining Thrive?
Before Thrive, I was a youth worker at Campden Baptist church in the North Cotswolds. It was a great place to be and work, and I supported a wonderful group of young people—thanks, guys! I was also active in local schools, enabling student-led CU’s, prayer spaces, and TLG mentoring. Before that, my family and I lived in Istanbul for five years, serving the young people of Christian workers there. Prior to that, my wife and I planted Acts 2 Youth Church in Weston-super-Mare with a team of young adults.
What makes you happy?
I love that moment when a young person discovers they can do something they thought was beyond them. I’m also intrigued by the mystery of how and why someone comes to faith in Jesus or chooses to get baptised. Those are always big moments for me. But I also love the sight of an old Series II Land Rover bouncing around a bend in the road or lifting an object out of the earth that no one else has touched for a thousand years, and that wonderful welcome home from our dog Obi—these things never fail to make me smile.
What’s a favourite Bible verse of yours?
Wow, that’s a tough one – there have been so many precious verses over the years- I think right now it is Ephesians 3:20- “Now to him who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” it tells me God won’t be limited by me, and all the glory is his- but by his grace, we get to be part of what he is doing- awesome!
What can we pray for as you start this new role?
Please pray that I can be attentive to Jesus’ voice, obedient to what He’s calling me to do, and effective and useful in building His kingdom wherever I am and with whomever I am with. Also please pray that I can quickly build effective relationships with leaders and young people so I can discern how to support what the Lord is doing through them.
