Youth Bus Volunteers

The Youth Bus is a really exciting resource which is designed to help local churches connect with young people who are outside the church family and to go into the community, bringing the love of God to young people wherever they are.

To make this happen, we are building a team of volunteers from across local churches, who will help us to share God’s love with local young people.

Bus sessions will be happening at various times such as after-school, evenings, weekends, and at local community events.

Come along to one of our open sessions and see the bus for yourself!

The bus will be open to visitors and potential volunteers on the following days. Feel free to pop down anytime on these dates for as long as you like!

If I volunteer, what will I be doing?

Volunteers will welcome young people onto the bus, take time to build relationships and take opportunities to share our faith. Over the course of a bus session, volunteers will serve young people (using the food and drinks-making facilities onboard),  play games and do crafts with young people and will take the time to get to know young people personally. We will look to be salt and light and to be examples of Jesus to everyone who hops on board. The only thing you need to make a big difference is a heart to serve and love young people.

Whatever your personality, gifting or experience of youthwork, we have a role for you!

Will you help train me to do this?

All volunteers will have the opportunity to attend training sessions to learn how to use the equipment on board and to hear tips and ideas for engaging young people. You will also have ongoing support from Thrive to enable you to be fully involved. We encourage all volunteers to take part in these training events before serving on the bus. We are keen to ensure that everyone feels totally prepared to serve young people using the bus.

Volunteers will be appointed having completed our safeguarding procedures and will be DBS checked.

Who drives the bus?

Thrive will be responsible for ensuring that the bus is able to be wherever young people are. However, we also need some local Christians who are happy to learn how to drive the bus so that we can make sure the bus is used in as many places as possible. Let us know if that might be you!
