New youth Growing Leaders course is launched

We are launching our fifth programme of the youth Growing Leaders course this month and we are looking for Christian young people to consider applying.

GLYE 2014On Monday 16th June we are holding an exploratory evening for any young people who might be interested in taking part in the next programme of the course. The course will run from September until April, with applications being accepted from 17th June until July 18th.

The evening runs from 7.00-8.30pm at Quench, the youth room at St Paul’s Church in Leamington. This will be an opportunity to find out more about the course, what’s involved, what the commitment required is and to hear stories from previous participants. There will also be a chance to ask any questions there may be regarding the course. The evening is open to anyone and there is no expectation that by attending you will do the course.

The course is designed for Christian young people who feel they might like to explore Christian leadership more. Applicants must be aged 15-18 in September (i.e. school year 11 and above).

Here is what previous participants have had to say about the course:

“Thank you for helping me understand what Christian leadership is and for helping me take on leadership roles and responsibilities with the church.”

“it was great learning about what gifts we have so could work out which area of leadership we should be in.”

“I now lead worship at my church which I wouldn’t have done before.”

“After a few sessions I realised that I was talking more about God at school, just as things came up. I was more confident.”

The course runs over 8 sessions, including two which are overnight stays at Barnes Close in Bromsgrove.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about leadership, identify your gifts and develop your character, helping young people to grow and lead more like Jesus. The course is run by Thrive’s director, Andy Castle, and local youth minister, Kate Wallis.

This will be the fifth time the course has taken place. So far 37 young people have been on it, coming from 12 different local churches.
