Intern Scheme

The Thrive Intern Scheme aims to bring together a bunch of young adults, each giving up a year of their lives to throw themselves into mission, serving, growing young disciples and investing in local churches. It’s a year that is so fruitful that it isn’t so much ‘giving up’ a year, as ‘gaining’.

Why do it?

If you are aged between 18-23, looking for a fresh way to serve God and to grow in your dependency on him, then the thrive intern scheme could be just for you.
You will grow in many ways, you will experience new things, develop your gifts and talents, extend your comfort zones and have opportunities to seek God for his purpose for your life.
This intern scheme will widen your horizon to how God can work through you, give you real experience of working for a local church and prepare you for a life of leadership.

What will happen?

Interns will be placed in local churches around Leamington & Warwick and the surrounding area. Interns can volunteer up to 20 hours per week to get involved in growing existing youth work, developing new initiatives, reaching out to young people in the community and also getting involved in local schools. There are opportunities for getting involved in wider ministry areas in the church depending on the church placement and the intern’s individual gifts. The scheme will run from September 2014 to July 2015.

What is the training?

Training will take place each week with all interns meeting together for support, fellowship, worship and training. The training is divided into four areas: youth ministry, leadership, personal growth and theology. This training is designed to equip you well for the internship as well as prepare you for a life of leadership and serving Jesus wherever he leads you in the future.


What is the cost?

The costs involved with the intern scheme will be covered by Thrive and the placement church. This is a voluntary position. Interns will have two or three days free each week where they can work in a part-time paid job, to provide an income to cover their weekly costs. Accommodation is not provided but if interns are not local, and cannot live at home, the placement church will work with the intern to help find suitable accommodation, most likely staying with a church family.
