Base event attracts over 100 young people

On Saturday evening, 14th September, Thrive brought together over 100 young people from churches across the Coventry and Warwickshire area to its first Base event. Building on the popularity of the annual Basecamp youth weekends away, we wanted to provide an event to keep connections across the youth groups and to enable people to gather to worship.

The fun started with a BBQ, followed by games, worship and talk by Jon Mills from Coventry Youth For Christ. The event, held at Whitnash Methodist Church, seemed to be much appreciated and it was wonderful to see teenagers engaging with God as they worshipped.

Young people played a major part in planning, set-up, worshipping and leading the event. It’s so encouraging to see young people on the Thrive Young Leaders Team show so much commitment and passion for sharing their faith.

The event also gives those attending a taste of what Thrive’s weekend away is like.   Basecamp, which runs from Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February at the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire, promises to be a fun-packed, God-filled weekend for youth leaders and young people alike.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for groups to enjoy time with each other, other youth groups and, of course, with God.
