Autumn plans for Thrive

autumn plans

September is here and we are now in the new academic year. Here at Thrive Youth Ministries we have a busy term ahead with lots of exciting projects and opportunities to invest in local churches to see more young people grow in their faith.

Our primary focus is to get alongside individual churches and their youth leaders, to support them in their vital ministry to young people and to help them develop their work. Much of Thrive’s time continues to be spent meeting with individual church leaders, youth ministers and youth leaders, offering advice and ideas as well as training and one to one mentoring.

To help support leaders, we are holding a training day on Saturday 8th November. ‘How to grow a thriving youth group’ will be an event which will equip, encourage and inspire leaders to be more creative in their youth ministry and to actively consider how they can best disciple their young people and enable them to reach out to their peers.

We are starting our fifth programme of the youth Growing Leaders course this month. We have nine young people on the course this time, coming from four different local churches. This is always a pleasure to run and a privilege to get to spend focused time investing in these young leaders.

Thrive continues to support the young people who oversee First Sunday, the monthly youth worship service which takes place at Leamington Spa Baptist Church. This year, we are being more involved by co-ordinating the new leadership team and investing in them as leaders, so that they can be even better at leading this great event. If you know any Christian teenagers local to Leamington, do make sure they know about this event as it would be great to gather as many young people together as possible to worship God as the youth of the area.

We will continue to build a Youth Work Network in the area, and are keen to invest more in linking up local leaders, both employed and volunteers. Likewise, we are keen to explore more how we can support those who work with children in our churches, recognising that the reality for many churches is that they will struggle to have young people if they don’t develop their children’s work.

Thrive’s website is becoming a popular resource. Visitors can find links to quality material online as well as information on Thrive’s work. Our director, Andy Castle, writes a regular leadership blog to inspire other leaders in their youth ministry. Please recommend this to any leaders you may know.

There is lots more going on this term but hopefully this gives you a taste. If you want to be kept up to date with what we’re up to, please sign up to receive our monthly supporters e-bulletin, which we would love to send to you.
